Alicia Silverstone’s son was NOT influenced by bullies to cut hair

Alicia Silverstone has opened up about her son’s decision to cut his hair long after some speculated the boy was giving in to pressure from bullies.

The 44-year-old actress revealed over the weekend that her nine-year-old son Bear – whom she shares with ex-husband Christopher Jarecki – cut his hair long and shared a video of the moment on social media .

But after a post wrote about Bear cutting his hair “after making fun of,” Alicia felt the need to clarify.

Alicia shared the article with a post to clarify matters on Tuesday.

‘Hi! I saw this story and I feel compelled to say that this is not what happened – Bear chose to cut his hair at this point for himself – because he wanted a change – not because he felt someone else’s pressure or was teased.

“ I shared a story a few months ago about an isolated event that happened over 2 years ago where it was called a girl … and I shared it because I was so proud that it didn’t make him want to change his appearance because of how others were feeling.

“I sincerely wish we didn’t need to seek approval from others.

Alicia said on Monday that she was overcome with emotion when she saw Bear get her braids cut to size.

Actress Clueless revealed to fans, alongside a video of when he performed the transformation, that Bear wanted to ‘try something new’.

Alicia explained that she supported his decision but had a “feeling” that he would decide to grow his long hair out again.

On Sunday, the actress shared a video of Bear getting her hair cut to Instagram and wrote, “ Yep, that’s right. Bear cut his hair !! My baby is growing.

“I miss her hair !!!!! Was it his decision? Yes. Did I cry inside watching him get cut? Maybe… but did I try to stop it? Not a second. The reason he chose to keep it for as long as he did was because he loved it so much !!!

“ Although I have a feeling he will find a way to get his long hair back again in the future.

“ Either way, I will always support my sweet, caring and precious little boy in every decision he makes. (Sic) ”

In the clip, Bear admitted he was “ nervous ” to make the change.

Alicia asked her, “What are we doing right now? To which he replied, “I’m cutting my hair.

When she asked him why, he replied with a smile, “I have no idea.

She then asked if he was nervous at all, and Bear admitted, “Yes, very.

But the youngster also said he felt ‘so excited’ that two stylists were working on his hair.

Bear’s haircut came two months after the actress revealed that her son was bullied because of his flowing hair.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Once other kids made fun of my son for his hair on a bus ride to the surf camp.

“ After he came back and told me I thought he would want to cut it on a haircut appointment we had already scheduled the next day but when we got there he said : “Please give me a cut so I can grow it to my size.”

‘He’s my boy! He knows who he is. He loves his hair and chooses to have it long. Mom and Dad aren’t going to stop him from being him. He is beautiful and we love his hair!
