A new year means a new start and what can be a better start than getting more value on a service you paid for before. With the start of January 2021, Microsoft finally announced the upcoming addition of games to the already profitable Xbox Game Pass service.
Available to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers, Microsoft will add the following titles to the Game Pass library:
- Killer Queen Black (January 5)
- Cyber Shadow (January 26)
- The Medium (January 28) – Xbox Series X / S only
- Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 Remastered (January 28)
This time around, Microsft isn’t off to a good start to the year, and managed to get Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 remastered on the game alongside their PC launch. Plus, now with the addition of the remastered versions, all Yakuza games are playable on Xbox Game Pass.
For those unfamiliar with Yakuza games, this is a Japanese video game franchise created, owned and published by Sega. The main genre of the Yakuza series is beat ’em up, but elements from the action-adventure, open-world, and action role-playing genres are incorporated into each game as well.
The main theme of the series is the protagonist’s desire to leave Yakuza for good and start over, raising orphans and trying to assimilate into civilian life, but the protagonist will face an ongoing challenge from other groups. and Yakuza thugs who try to take him down. Yakuza games offer players a variety of fighting styles to choose from.
Cyber Shadow is another game from Sega that will be joining the Game Pass Library on January 26.
It’s a retro 2d game that will take you back to the days of the Sega Generis. You play as a cybernetic ninja named Shadow who sets out to save his clan in a world overrun by the machine.
As with the other games, The Medium is an exclusive game for the X / S series only, and The Killer Queen Black is a multiplayer strategy game in which you play up to 8 players.
Team up with your friends on a journey to defeat the opponent’s queen and win the game. It’s the first game of the year coming to Xbox Game Pass and will be available on January 5th.
