WORCESTER, Mass. – Massachusetts braces for another wave of heavy precipitation as Ida’s remains near the state. Flash flood watch was issued by the National Weather Service statewide until 2 p.m. Thursday.

Worcester has been ravaged by rain for the past two weeks. What remains of Ida is the third storm to hit since August 19. According to the NWS, up to 7 inches of precipitation could result from the next storm.

As the state braces for the onset of rain, a local rescue team is already in Louisiana to help those displaced, injured or in need of relief.

Massachusetts Task Force 1, a Beverely-based group deployed to Louisiana last weekend and has already started missions, a spokesperson said.

In a press release, MA Task Force 1 said the following:

“The task force was detained outside its area of ​​operation due to a lack of infrastructure and spent the night in Birmingham, Alabama. Team management traveled to Baton Rouge last night and were able to hold briefings with the Incident Support Team this morning and received their work assignment and area of surgery. The team is currently assisting residents of Louisiana.
