All the legs on the bridge! Meet the krewe (and puppies) parading through the streets for Mardi Gras

Move on the pillars of Mardi Gras, there is a new krewe in town, the "Krewe des Paws" of the PHS (Pensacola Humane Society).

"At first we had a little thought: what if we had only five people?" "It gives more visibility to human society and allows us to have fun at the same time," says Jon York, a volunteer.

York is here five days a week. He said that the Krewe of Paws is a little different from the more traditional ones.

First, membership costs only $ 100 for adults and $ 25 for children. Children are really welcome, and some have already joined. He said, "This is supposed to be family-friendly, pet-oriented."

The CEO of the Humane Society, Jennifer Bitner, said long-time party goers were on the job to guide the new Krewe.

Bitner smiled: "In fact, several krewes came to exchange beads with us, and they wanted to know if we could be their charity that they support."

Bitner explains with such a warm welcome that everything is perfectly set up. The finishing touch was royal.

Bitner said, "Everyone has chosen Suzannah, she is very appreciated, she has a very brilliant personality."

Suzannah is a queen who works with a tender heart and a strong work ethic.

"We have about 80 animals here with us at all times and that's a lot of work to look after them all," Bitner said.

The Krewe of Paws will parade twice, during the downtown Pensacola parade on Saturday with only human and Sunday members of the "Kids and Kritters" parade on Pensacola Beach. They will have dogs to meet, greet and adopt.
