PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 1,028 new coronavirus cases and 20 more deaths on Thursday.

Of the new cases reported today, 962 are confirmed from 2,614 PCR tests. There are 66 probable cases.

In today’s report, County Health Department Director Dr Debra Bogen calls on the public to act as cases continue to rise.

She said, “It pains me to report these numbers. I had hoped that we would never see this level of community spread. This heartbreaking step must put our community into action. I implore you to cancel parties, weddings, gatherings, events and stay home as much as possible. My heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones during this pandemic. We can and must do better. “

“The new cases vary in age from 1 month to 98 years with a median age of 44 years”, indicates the Ministry of Health. The dates for positive tests are from November 17 to December 2. Health officials say 11 positive tests are more than a week old.

There have been 2,140 hospitalizations in Allegheny County since the start of the epidemic. Of all hospitalized patients, 492 required ICU care, and 176 of them required ventilator treatment.

The county-wide death toll has risen to 544.

Newly recorded death dates are November 13-27. Patients include one in their forties, one in their fifties, two in their sixties, seven in their forties, eight in their forties and one over the age of 100.

Eight of these deaths were associated with long-term care facilities.

There have been a total of 30,543 cases of the coronavirus among residents of Allegheny County since the start of the pandemic.

According to health officials, according to Wednesday’s report, 277,292 people have been tested for COVID-19 across the county.
