In light of escalating cases of COVID-19 across Minnesota and the Midwest, Allina Health on Wednesday transferred visitor status from its 11 hospitals and 90 clinics to RED, as in no authorized visitors.
Allina runs United Hospital in downtown St. Paul, the largest hospital in the eastern subway, and Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, which is the largest hospital in the Twin Cities.
Limited exceptions to the “no visitors” rule have been posted online (tinyurl.com/AllinaVisit1120) for women in childbirth and people with disabilities, and Allina officials said in a statement that exceptions for maternal care. compassion would be taken into consideration.
In addition, pediatric patients are allowed a parent or guardian to accompany them. In the emergency room, an adult can accompany trauma or intensive care patients. Two parents or legal guardians can visit a newborn baby.

All visitors will be screened for symptoms of COVID and must wear a mask, visitor badge and screening sticker. When the waiting areas are full, visitors may be asked to wait outside the building.
Visitors are also expected to use hand sanitizer and practice physical distancing, and no visitor under the age of 18 will be allowed unless an exception is made for compassionate care.
