Alternative to Beats AirPods starts shipping May 10 – TechCrunch

Earlier this month, Beats unveiled its long-awaited response to the AirPods. Powerbeats Pro offer much longer battery life, better sound and better fit. The Apple subsidiary promised an exit in May and now we have something more concrete.

The fully wireless headsets are pre-ordered in the United States and Canada on the morning of May 3rd and will be available for everyone on May 10th. Just a little time to get your hands on what seems like a pretty solid alternative.

I've already spent some time with the headphones and I am especially pleased with the experience. Comfort is really what is important here, especially since the hard plastic of AirPods is not suitable for most ears. Add to that an H1 chip and you get the same pairing functionality you get with Apple branded headphones. There is also a lot to say about the nine hours of battery shown – more about this in our inevitable criticism, of course.

Disadvantages: an extremely bulky charging case that you will probably leave at home when you run. There's also the pretty outrageous price of $ 250, which puts them at $ 50 north of the AirPod 2. In either case, it's a win-win situation for Apple. The Powerbeats Pro will be available in black at first, with white but brownish green coming later in the summer.
