Amazon fires driver after allegedly stealing PS5 boy’s birthday

Amazon fired a driver after stealing a 16-year-old’s birthday party, the PS5. The PS5 is the most demanded product in the world right now, which not only makes it almost impossible to buy, but also makes it perfect for making a quick profit. Since the start of the PS5 pre-orders, Scalpers have been selling the PS5 to desperate PlayStation fans for absurd amounts. That said, apparently not only PlayStation fans have to compete with scalpers, bots, and packet hunters, but Amazon pilots as well.

This week, an anonymous pilot working for Amazon was allegedly caught by CCTV stealing a PS5, as he was more specifically caught stealing a PS5 birthday from a 16-year-old boy by the boy’s mother, Jenni Walker. After apparently learning about the act on CCTV, the British mother reached out to Amazon, who revealed that she would investigate the incident before reimbursing the machine. And for its troubles, Amazon also issued a $ 50 gift certificate to the Walker family.

The story does not end there, however. Following this, Walker’s daughter went to the local Amazon repository with the CCTV footage, which was presented to the site’s boss. Speaking to the girl, the boss confirmed that the driver was indeed an employee and that he would be fired for the incident.

“We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and the way they serve customers,” Amazon said in an interview with Oxford Mail. “The shipping partner will no longer ship on behalf of Amazon.”

As of yet, it’s still unclear where Walker’s PS5 ended, but they have confirmed with Eurogamer that they haven’t secured a replacement yet.

The PS5 is available worldwide. If you can find one, you’ll need $ 400 or $ 500, depending on whether or not you want a disk drive. For more coverage on the next-gen machine – including all the latest news, rumors and leaks – click here or check out the links below:
