TL; DR
- Amazon will be holding its fall hardware event on September 28, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
- There is no word on what the company plans to release, however.
- We’ve seen updated versions of its Echo smart speakers, home security products, and more in previous years.
Amazon is gearing up for its 2021 hardware storefront and has officially set a date for the event. According to an invitation received by The edge, the event will take place next week, September 28, at 12:00 p.m. ET. As usual, Amazon has not gone into details of what it plans to release. The invitation just included a vague mention of “news about our latest Amazon devices, features and services.”
Historically, Amazon has used its fall hardware event to showcase updated smart speakers, new and improved Ring home security products, and streaming devices. At its event last year, Amazon launched the new Echo, new versions of the Echo Dot, the Eero 6 and 6 Pro Wi-Fi routers, a new Echo Show, and plenty of security products like the Ring. Car Cam, Ring Car Alarm, and Ring Always Home Cam. There was also a new Fire Stick 4K and Fire Stick Lite.
One of its biggest announcements last year was the launch of the Amazon Luna game streaming service, intended to compete with Google Stadia and Microsoft Cloud. Luna is still not open to the public. So far, only Amazon users in the US are currently allowed to request early access. We could see an update on its game streaming service next week.
Finally, at least one of the potential launch products has already been leaked: the Kindle Paperwhite 5. Stay tuned!
