Amazon Music is growing faster than Spotify

Amazon Music Unlimited could have arrived late – in 2016, two years after the launch of Apple Music. But the popularity of Amazon's Echo speakers gives it an advantage, as it is now present in a growing number of households. The company apparently would work on a more faithful version of Echo, which could better compete with Sonos-type speakers and attract more users to its streaming services.

Amazon also found an audience among the old subscribers. According to Steve Boom, director of Amazon Music, about 14% of Amazon Music subscribers are at least 55 years old. In comparison, only five percent of Spotify users belong to this age range. "We are not fighting for the same customers as everyone else," said Boom Financial Times. "In order for the industry to reach its full potential, we can not limit ourselves to 15-22 year olds."

In terms of price, Amazon offers more flexibility. Like Spotify and Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited costs $ 10 per month. Premium members can get it for $ 8 a month, and if you only listen on an Echo speaker, it's only $ 4 a month. Alexa device owners who agree to listen to ads can access the service for free. Prime members also have access to Prime Music at no extra charge, but this service has fewer Echo songs and commands. So while Spotify and Apple Music have attracted the most attention in the subscriber race, Amazon Music could be a serious third contender.
