Amazon is delaying the return to the office of its corporate employees until early next year, becoming the latest tech company to do so amid an increase in Covid-19 cases due to the highly delta variant. contagious.
Company employees in the United States and some other countries will begin returning to the office from January 3, 2022, the company confirmed to CNBC. Previously, Amazon said it expected most of its employees to start returning to the office on a regular basis the week of September 7 this year.

In recent weeks, other tech companies, including Google, Facebook, Apple and Twitter, have adjusted their return-to-work plans amid rising Covid-19 cases.
Unlike Google and Facebook, Amazon will not require workers returning to its office to be vaccinated. Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky confirmed this during a call with reporters following the company’s second quarter earnings report last week.
The company will require employees to wear masks in the office, unless they show full proof of vaccination, Amazon said.
Amazon returned to its remote working advice in June. The company said it expects employees to work in the office three days a week, allowing them the ability to work remotely for up to two days a week. It was a significant turnaround from his March forecast, when he said his goal was to “return to a desktop-centric culture as a baseline.”
