AMD Radeon VII Fulfills Its Purpose Now That Navi Is There

AMD released the world's first GPU 7 nm earlier this year with the Radeon VII (my opinion on this here) with the Vega 20 package on 7nm, with a huge HBM2 high-speed 16GB memory. reported exclusively that AMD manufactured only 5,000 units of its Radeon VII and there would be no custom boards, ever.

Well, go ahead quickly by 6 months and we do not have any custom maps. Now, the Radeon VII is at the end of its life, just like the new Radeon RX 5700 XT and Radeon RX graphics based on Navi (my comments on these cards here) are released. Cowcotland has confirmed with its sources that the Radeon VII is no longer in production and that the cards that are on the shelves and retail warehouses are the only remaining cards.

The move makes sense with my reports from 6 months ago and now emphasizes that Navi is there and achieves better numbers in games with reduced energy consumption, reduced heat and noise. AMD is reported to be nibbling on the manufacturing time of 7nm nodes as well as HBM2 memory.
