Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa announced Wednesday that their location is closing on June 1.

The facility has been part of the community for 30 years and said it had no choice but to close due to insurance limitations.

Daynie Haynie, president of CTCA Tulsa, said it was an emotional day when the community learned of the shutdown. Haynie said the shutdown would affect 400 employees and 2,000 patients.

According to Haynie, there have been challenges for years. She said the limitations of insurance in this market, including many patients not being able to choose where to get treatment based on their benefits inside and outside the network, are the factors. the most importants.

Haynie said the CTCA sent 2,000 emails to active patients and those who needed to be followed up to notify them of the shutdown.

The other hospitals in the oncology network, including Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix, will remain open, while the Philadelphia site announced last week that it is being purchased by another health system.

“These hospitals in other markets all have network contracts with the primary payers in their communities and in their states,” said Haynie.
