BOCA RATON, Florida – A delivery man hired by Best Buy is accused of beating an elderly woman with a mallet, spraying her with a toxic chemical and setting her on fire.

Police said the woman died as a result of her injuries.
According to an arrest report, the police went to a house in the Glen Oaks Colonnades, northwest of 49th Street, around 9:15 am Monday.
Officers said they found the victim, later identified as Evelyn Udell, 75, unconscious on the laundry floor, injured in the head and severely burned to the body.
An employee of a contract delivery company for the delivery of household appliances for Best Buy said he and Jorge Dupre Lachazo, 21, had delivered a washer and dryer to the victim's home Monday morning.
Once the devices were installed, the witness stated that he had gone outside to answer phone calls and that Lachazo had remained inside the house with the victim to acclimatize to the devices and answer all questions.
The witness stated that he "had heard several cries from inside the residence", so he entered the house and noticed that there was blood on the floor of the laundry room and that the victim was on the ground near the blood.
The witness told the police that "Lachazo was acting in a very strange way", and said that he had to leave. The witness stated that Lachazo had climbed into the delivery truck and fled.
According to an arrest report, police reportedly arrested Lachazo in block 7100 W. Glades Road. Police said: "Lachazo was very sweaty and was shaking like he was nervous."
The hair on his legs was burned and there was ash on his legs, the police said.
The arrest report indicated that the police had found traces of burns in the laundry room, as well as a "strong chemical smell". In addition, "a wooden mallet was above the washing machine and blood was observed on the mallet".
There was also a glass wine bottle on the floor and long hair stained with dried blood on the bottle.
In the kitchen, police said that the stove had been removed from the wall and that a blue metal box of acetone without a lid was on the counter. All the burners on the stove were on.
According to inspectors, Lachazo told them that he was at the victim's home, showing him how to use his devices. He admitted to having struck in the head with the mallet and knocking him out.
Police said Lachazo said he later received a chemical from the garage.
"[Lachazo] makes a physical move with his hands indicating that he has sprinkled [the victim] and piece with the chemical agent. He then made a request with his hands for the chemical to burn spontaneously, "said the report of the arrest.
Lachazo said that he was then climbed into the delivery truck and fled.
Police said "Lachazo admitted to having recently consumed cocaine, as well as marijuana through a spraying." However, the motive of the crime remains unclear.
According to the report of his arrest, the fingerprints of Lachazo were found on the can of acetone.
Police said the victim suffered multiple fractures of the skull and face, as well as severe bleeding to the brain and second and third degree burns on most of his body.
Lachazo faces charges of first degree murder, first degree arson and armed robbery.
In court on Tuesday, a judge denied Lachazo's bail and ordered him to have no further contact with the victim, his family, his witnesses or the company he was working for.
Best Buy stated that it was taking action as a result of the attack, suspending its relationship with the local subcontracted delivery company and also using an independent security company to review its filtering programs and security.
He also closes his Boca Raton store Tuesday out of respect for the victim.

According to Florida Atlantic University, Evelyn Udell worked at FAU as a cataloger from November 2003 to April 2018.
