The Florida Highway Patrol told the TV channel that a man – who had previously been reported to law enforcement for slow driving and random stops – stopped his vehicle on the highway. Another vehicle did not see the truck stopped and hit it from behind.

A good Samaritan, identified as Weysham, stopped to help when another car crashed in the area. One of the vehicles caught fire and Weysham was killed, officials said.

"This gentleman gave his life for the public, as a firefighter," said rider Ronald Drake. "In his heart, he was trying to do what he needed, he came out, and it's just unfortunate."
