The lunar lander of Israel carries a very precious cargo on the moon.
On board the 1,290-pound probe is a set of tiny disks containing 30 million pages of documents that serve as archives for human civilization.
Called the "Lunar Library", the disc was created by the Arch Mission Foundation in order to preserve the "valuable knowledge and biological heritage" of humanity until a later date.

Beresheet, which translates as Genesis, or "In the Beginning", carries an Israeli flag, as well as the lunar library.
The lunar library looks like a "120mm DVD", but it's actually made up of 25 nickel film discs, each 40 microns thick, according to the Arch Mission Foundation.
The first four layers consist of 60,000 photographs of pages of books, photos, illustrations and documents.

Other information on the disc includes technical instructions detailing the scientific and technical knowledge needed to access, decode and understand the digital information further down the Lunar Library.
There is also a full copy of Wikipedia, the history of Israel and data from the Long Now Foundation, a language guide in 5000 languages.
The lunar library is about 200 GB of data when its digital content is uncompressed.
It will not be the only lunar library that will be sent to the moon.
WHAT IS BERESHEET?
Beresheet is about 1 meter high and 2.3 meters wide with its landing gear and extended legs.
Beresheet will remain in the Earth's orbit for about a month, slowly widening its ellipse until it reaches its apogee, or its farthest point from here, to nearly 400,000 kilometers.
It will then slowly be introduced on the orbit of the moon.
Lunar surface operations are expected to last only two days. Beresheet will measure the magnetic field at the landing site and will return data and images.
A time capsule is aboard the lander, which features a photo of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, who died on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003.

The Arch Mission Foundation will be sending another component of the Lunar Library in space over the next five years aboard a spaceship equipped with the Astrobiotic startup.
"The idea is to place enough back-up copies around the solar system so that our precious knowledge and biological legacy are never lost," Archteacher co-founder CNET told CNET.
This is not the first time that Arch Mission Foundation is trying to send one of his records in space.
SpaceX's Elon Musk has sent one of his special data devices into the galaxy inside the Tesla Roadster, which was launched aboard the Falcon Heavy last February.

The plan is that if the Earth and all humanity are destroyed by climate change, our history will be preserved.
