It’s over with the old one – and its cardboard cutout – for Ben Affleck.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the actor had separated from his girlfriend Ana de Armas, whom he had met on the set of their upcoming film. Deep waters. The break-up, after about 10 months together and a high-level cohabitation in quarantine, is said to have happened over the phone – although there is a discrepancy as to whether she threw it out or if they made a mutual decision.
The split happened “two weeks ago,” another report said, and Affleck, 48, wasted little time erasing memories of her ex Bond girl, 32. On the same day, the split made headlines, someone in a landscaping shirt was spotted throwing a giant cardboard cutout of the Cuban actress in the trash outside the home of ‘Affleck in Los Angeles.
There was more than one Missing girl reference about it on social media – as well as joke that Affleck’s brother Casey really was the masked man who committed the act. (For the record, photos showed several men in matching landscape shirts throwing trash and tidying up the star’s property.)
There’s no denying who the poster is, however. Just a few months ago, the life-size image of de Armas was part of a game she played with her children, which he shares with Jennifer Garner, in her backyard. Affleck’s second daughter Seraphina, 12, ran into the yard with the poster in her arms as the Knives Out the actress chased her away with a laugh. The youngest Samuel, 8, was also there for a laugh. (Affleck and Garner also have Violet, 15.)
On Tuesday, a bearded Affleck emerged from behind his door solo to pick up his daily delivery of Dunkin ‘Donuts – something he used to do with de Armas.
In late 2019 and early 2020, Affleck and de Armas starred together in their upcoming film, which sees them playing a married couple. Shortly after he said he wanted a “healthy” relationship, Affleck and de Armas were seen together in Cuba in March. The pandemic quarantined them together in Los Angeles soon after, making daily trips to walk their PDA dog. They became Instagram official in April when they celebrated her birthday. They then spent time with her mother, Chris, as well as her children.
After the shooting, covers for Deep waters in New Orleans in November, it was reported that the couple had officially moved in together and that they had listed their house in Venice Beach in December. They spent the holidays with her kids and things seemed to be going well – until news of the breakup was heard this week.
A source said People of the break-up, “Ben isn’t dating Ana anymore. She broke up. Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn’t want to be based in Los Angeles and Ben obviously has to since her children live in Los Angeles.
