The National Association of Basketball Players has elected Andre Iguodala of Golden State as First Vice President at its Monday Players' Council meeting.

Iguodala has been vice-chair of the executive committee since 2013. He will replace LeBron James in his new role. James' four-year term has expired.

"I am honored to be chosen by my peers for this position and assume wider responsibility within the NBPA," Iguodala said in a statement. "I look forward to continuing my work with Michele (Roberts), Executive Director of NBPA, Chris Paul and the Executive Committee to achieve the best possible results for the union and our future members."

In other elections, Malcolm Brogdon of Milwaukee, Jaylen Brown of Boston and Bismack Biyombo of Charlotte were elected Vice Presidents of the Executive Committee. Brogdon, Brown and Biyombo have all been representatives of the NBPA team; they will replace Carmelo Anthony, Stephen Curry of Golden State and Iguodala, whose three-year term has expired.

"Malcolm, Jaylen and Bismack have all shown a great commitment to the union since joining the league," said NBPA President Chris Paul in a statement. "I have no doubt that they will bring a new perspective and passion to the Executive Committee and I am excited to start working with them."

Other members of the executive committee include Anthony Tolliver of Minnesota (secretary-treasurer), Pau Gasol of San Antonio, CJ McCollum of Portland and veteran Garrett Temple of Los Angeles Clippers (vice-presidents).

The committee will assist the union in developing policies and making decisions regarding the current collective agreement. Each party may withdraw from the current agreement in 2022.
