There is a huge variety of minimal adjustments and quality of life changes in Android Q Beta 2, but some do not necessarily represent an improvement. For some reason, on Android Q Beta 2, the Pixel 3 no longer shows whether it is charging slowly or quickly when powered by a wireless charger.
Regarding wireless charging on the Pixel 3, Google has recently struggled to use it. Instead of using a Qi compatible 10W load, it only accepts a 5W charge from most Qi chargers. You can only charge 10 W wirelessly with a charger such as the Google Pixel Stand or the Boost-Up Made for Google Belkin.
To differentiate between these two charging speeds, the Pixel 3 typically displays "Charging Fast" with 10W Charging or "Charging Slowly" with a 5W charge. From Android Q Beta 2, these two messages have been replaced by the standardized message "Wireless charging".
The reasons for this change are still relatively unclear, as it is no longer obvious to the user that his 10W charger is not able to charge his Pixel 3 at full speed, which needs to be strongly communicated. At the same time, however, qualifying other chargers to charge their batteries "slowly" is also a marketing ploy to increase sales for Pixel Support and Charger.
This happy medium taken by Android Q Beta 2 for wireless charging communication now leaves the average user less informed. Even if Google lifted the restriction on Qi 10W chargers for Pixel 3, Android should still communicate the difference between a 5W charger and a 10W charger.
Update 15h00: Readers noted that the Pixel Stand UI was not updated with Android Q Beta 2 and always indicated "Quick Charge". We have confirmed with the Belkin Boost-Up that, apart from the interface of Pixel Stand, the load of 10W does not differ from 5W in load.
