Unfortunately, Ferguson died Friday, April 26 in Palmdale, California, at the age of 77, according to reports. The actor's son, Jace, confirmed the news and said he had found Ferguson near his bed with the television on.
He also said that death had been a shock because his father looked like he was fine a few days ago. But the police said there was no criminal act, and Ferguson died of natural causes.
Jace spoke about the kind of man his father was and congratulated him for having really loved him. "He was an intelligent black man, strong and handsome, and he wanted the best for his son and for all men," he said.
According to IMDb, the six-by-five actor was born in the Bronx in New York and had his first major role in the 1970s crime series titled "Starsky and Hutch."
He has also appeared in series such as "Hill Street Blues", "Trapper John M.D.", "The A-Team" and "St. Elsewhere, Ferguson 's last actor credit was for a short film entitled "The Elect" in 1995.
But he will probably be remembered for carrying a gun to Cuba Gooding Jr.'s neck in "Boyz n the Hood".
