Another quick start helps Vols overtake Gamecocks

For the second week in a row, Tennessee got off to a quick start against rival SEC East and clinched a lopsided victory. The Vols again scored 28 points in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon, building a 35-point first-half lead and never looked back on their way to a 45-20 win over the Gamecocks at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee (4-2, 2-1 SEC) took a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 35-0 before South Carolina (3-3, 0-3) finally scored their first points. The Vols predominantly rolled in the second half, adding just one touchdown in the fourth quarter, but did enough to retain their comfortable second straight win over SEC rival East after a 62-24 win at Missouri.
