Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo could wait for Giannis’ decision before deciding on type of contract

Anthony Davis is awaiting the terms of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, which could be linked to the supermax decision that Giannis Antetokounmpo weighs with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks have “operated under the belief” that Antetokounmpo will sign a supermax extension, but nothing has been agreed.

“I think there are two star players waiting to sign to see what Giannis does,” Brian Windhorst said on ESPN Radio. “It’s Anthony Davis. He’s coming back to the Lakers, but he can change the change in his contract, the way it’s structured, to give the Lakers a window, if not for Giannis but for someone in a one-plus-one. Because that’s what LeBron is on now.

“And Bam Adebayo. If Bam Adebayo signs a max contract, the Heat won’t have the room. But if he waits a year, they will.”

Adebayo shares an agent with Antetokounmpo in Alex Saratsis.

Windhorst also described Antetokounmpo’s decision as the most impactful in the NBA since Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

During an additional Windhorst appearance on Sports Center, he reiterated the possibility that Davis would sign a one plus one if Antetokounmpo decides against the supermax at this time.
