While the Los Angeles Lakers have the best record in the NBA, one of their best players is unhappy with his recent performance.

Anthony Davis offered a candid self-assessment when speaking to reporters following Thursday’s 113-106 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Right now, to be hard on myself, man, I think I’m bad right now,” he said. “I don’t take pictures. I don’t do free throws. But I think about my aggression tonight, being just a [post-up threat] and get to the painting, allowed the guys to open up. “

Davis has had under 20 points in each of the last five gameshis longest streak since the 2018-19 season. The seven-time All-Star shoots 38.0% and makes 63.6% of his free throw attempts in the last three games.

Despite these rough shooting stats, Davis contributes in other ways. He’s averaging 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists over that five-game streak.

It’s a testament to the list the Lakers have built that they are 4-1 in these games. The reigning NBA champions are 12-4 overall and lead the league with an average winning margin of 9.9 points.
