Last week, talks of a private town hall meeting leaked to the press, revealing the company’s positions on issues such as working from home and the Apple vs. Epic legal battle going forward.

Cook sent an email to employees last night explaining the contents of that meeting which were leaked, berating those who revealed details of the talks to the press, but now this email has also been leaked to The edge. The internal email sent by Cook reads as follows:

Dear team,

It was great to be in touch with you at the Global Employee Meeting on Friday. There was a lot to celebrate, from our remarkable new product line to our values-driven work around climate change, racial equity and privacy. It was a good opportunity to reflect on our many accomplishments and to have a discussion about what you had in mind.

I am writing to you today because I have heard that many of you were incredibly frustrated to see the content of the meeting leaked to reporters. This comes after a product launch in which most of the details of our announcements were also leaked to the press.

I want you to know that I share your frustration. These opportunities to connect as a team are really important. But they only work if we can be confident that the content will stay within Apple. I want to reassure you that we are doing everything in our power to identify those who fled. As you know, we do not tolerate the disclosure of confidential information, whether it is the intellectual property of a product or the details of a confidential meeting. We know that the leakers are a small number of people. We also know that people who divulge confidential information have no place here.

As we look forward to it, I want to thank you for all you have done to make our products a reality and for all you will do to put them in the hands of customers. Yesterday we released iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8, and Friday marks the time we share some of our amazing new products with the world. There is nothing better than this. We will continue to measure our contributions in the lives we change, the connections we have and the work we do to make the world a better place.

Thank you,

Tim

Specifically, Cook linked the leak of content from Friday’s meeting to the leak of the “product IP” and “a product launch in which most of the details of our announcements were also leaked to the press.” referring to the recent “California” of the company. Streaming “which saw the unveiling of the iPhone 13 line, Apple Watch Series 7 and the sixth generation iPad mini.

The accelerated rhetoric appears to be in line with a broader crackdown on leaks in recent months, which has seen various Apple leakers tracked down and hit with stern warnings from attorneys. This ongoing struggle shows no signs of slowing down, with Cook assuring that “we are doing everything in our power to identify those who fled” and those who “do not belong here.”
