Apple launches limited edition AirPods Pro to celebrate the Year of the Ox

Apple has released a pair of limited edition AirPods Pro for the Year of the Ox, and it’s cute enough that even those who don’t celebrate Lunar New Year are inclined to buy it. The pair’s charging case is engraved with a special beef icon, also imprinted on the box the device comes in. Apple only sells Ox-edition headphones in certain regions of Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

The good news for those who can get it in their Apple stores is that it seems to cost as much as the regular no-burn version. In China, for example, the Ox Edition headphones are listed for RMB 1,999 (US $ 310), the same price as their regular counterparts. According to the Chinese Apple Store, there are only 25,400 Ox-edition pairs for sale – it’s not entirely clear if it’s for China only or for all regions where it’s available – with 11,480 pairs intended to be sold in retail stores and 13,920 to be sold online. Additionally, each customer can only buy two pairs, which will likely make it more difficult for resellers to stock the devices.
