Three members of Apple's renowned industrial design team have left or are planning to leave the company, bringing with them a decades-long combined experience in creating some of the world's most iconic products.

Citing sources familiar with the subject, The Wall Street Journal reports Rico Zorkendorfer and Daniele De Iuliis have recently left Apple, while Julian Hönig plans to leave in the coming months. Together, the three designers have nearly 50 years of experience at the technology giant.

In a statement, Zorkendorfer said that he was taking a break from his professional life to spend more time with his family, adding that he felt privileged to be part of the design team. 39; Apple. He noted that Apple was in good hands, pointing out the fresh blood that would work under the CDO Jony Ive.

"We have amazing new designers – a new generation," Zorkendorfer said. "What we have been able to do in recent decades will continue, talent is there."

De Iuliis did not respond to a request for comment, while Hönig refused to make a statement following his departure.

According to the report, the team is slowly dissolving after the success of products such as the iPhone offering a comfortable life and a relatively secure future. In 2016, Danny Coster left for GoPro after 23 years of service, while Christopher Stringer, an influential ID group personality, stepped down in 2017 after 21 years of work. Stringer is cited in many groundbreaking design patents, many of which involve aspects of the iPhone.

When the veterans leave, Nike's new recruits, independent studios and design schools will be given more responsibility for the development of new product lines, the report says.

As noted the WSJ, the business figure of Apple's main design team coincides with the new focus put by the company on digital services. The team that imagined the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch designs under Ive Most has seen a significant slowdown in the number of important new devices in recent years. The newest and most memorable versions of the Apple ID group are the 2016 AirPods and the 2017 HomePods.

Beyond scalable updates to existing product lines such as the iPhone, the iPad and the Mac, Apple designers are expected to work hard on a variety of devices. An augmented reality headset that could be unveiled in 2020 is expected to debut.
