The Apple MacBook Pro is already a worthy contender in the list of best laptops, and it’s set to get even better with Apple’s next upgrade from Silicon. The 2021 MacBook Pro is suggested to have a new design and colors similar to the 2021 21-inch iMac, mini LED displays, a much more powerful ARM-based M1X chipset with up to 64GB of RAM, more load fast and return an HDMI port, SD card reader and a MagSafe connector for the charger. It’s shaping up to be an exciting device, and we might not be too far from a launch now.
According to industry insider Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter (via FrontPageTech), Apple is preparing to launch the new M1X chipset at an event in October. In 2020, Apple made the long-awaited migration to its eight-core ARM-based M1 silicon. Unlike the Intel x86-64 chips that Apple uses to power its laptops, ARM-based silicon is available in a system-on-chip (SoC) format, like on an iPhone or iPad. In addition to the 10-core CPU, the Apple M1X chip will potentially offer the choice between 16-core and 32-core GPUs.
Gurman said the following:
The wait for the MacBook Pro is probably almost over: The new MacBook Pro didn’t appear when Apple’s product unveiled in September, but it is still expected to launch in the coming weeks. Apple typically releases its main Mac new releases in October. So stay tuned.
The Apple M1X chip, the likely name of a more graphic and professional M1 chip, is indeed still relevant for 2021. We’ll likely see it appear first in a new line of MacBook Pro next month and a Mac mini. high end at one point. The M1X has been developed in two variations: both with 10 CPU cores (eight high performance and two high performance) and 16 or 32 graphics cores.
The chip is also expected to have better neural processing capabilities and support up to 64GB of RAM. However, a report by AppleTrack in July suggested that the new M1X Macs could be capped at 32GB of RAM. It is assumed that this move can be seen as the result of low demand for Apple’s 64GB RAM setup on existing Macs.
Apple recently launched the iPhone 13 series, Apple Watch Series 7, and a bunch of new iPads at its September event. We’re excited to see what the new MacBook Pros have to offer, especially if the launch event takes place as soon as it appears. Since some of this year’s Apple leaks haven’t materialized, be sure to take this news with a fair amount of skepticism.
