SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Walmart will host a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic at a Springfield location on Thursday. However, the dates went quickly. Appointments made in a short time.

Walmart will administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Springfield with a drive-through clinic at the Walmart Supercenter, 3315 S. Campbell Ave. through the US Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Eligible patients can schedule a vaccine appointment through Walmart’s website, which allows them to be vaccinated while supplies of vaccine run out. The vaccines will be available to those who meet the current phase of vaccine eligibility in Missouri, which can be found on the Missouri Department of Health website. No insurance is required, there is no cost to receive the vaccine and appointments for the second vaccination will be made at the time of the appointment. Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the company expects these events to take place over the next several weeks, as the assignment permits.

Walmart has selected vaccination clinics in locations that prioritize access for those deemed most vulnerable. The team took into account demographic information, local health needs and medically underserved data to identify where the business can have the greatest impact by increasing access to vaccines.

“We have two goals when we administer the vaccines: first, to get as many vaccines in the eligible arms as possible so that we can continue the process of reopening our country, and second, to ensure equitable access to vaccines in the communities we let’s serve. The majority of our new vaccination clinics are located in medically underserved neighborhoods, and we are proud to play a role in improving access to care in these communities, ”said Dr. Cheryl Pegus, Vice President Executive of Walmart Health & Wellness. “We will continue to find new ways to increase access to immunization for our clients as we work to end the pandemic.”

Walmart is working in partnership with the CDC and states to act as quickly as possible to help deliver vaccines to eligible populations in participating states. Vaccine supply and eligibility will vary based on national and local guidelines. In addition to appointments, the scheduler will provide a digital reminder when it is time to return for the second vaccine, which is why clients are encouraged to create a profile, which helps to ensure clients receive the second dose of vaccine on time.

Walmart pharmacies will continue to support states and the federal government to help increase the accessibility and availability of COVID-19 vaccines. To stay up to date with how Walmart and Sam’s Club are supporting vaccine rollout, visit https://corporate.walmart.com/covid-vaccine.
