MENDOTA HEIGHTS – Savannah Smith of Crosswoods Golf Course won the inaugural Minnesota PGA Women’s Match Play Championship on September 29 at Mendakota Country Club.
Smith dominated Angie Ause of Oak March 2 in the final to win the title. Smith got a pass in the first round and then opened with a 5 & 3 win over Kristin Rosaasen. She then knocked out Kristen Meyer of Rochester 4 & 3 in the semi-finals.
PEQUOT LAKES – Tom McGrath, Al Falconer, Chuck Hicks and Duane Frion won the four-man scrum on Tuesday, September 28 for the Men’s League at Whitefish Golf Club.
Bill Pool, Tom Schroeder and Mike Milbrath placed second ahead of the team of Joe Wagner, Kirk Mahlen, Jon Eide and Mike Rancour.
Rocky Wilske and Steve Bloom were closest to the pin. Mike Fogerty and Ron Kitzmann made the longest putts.
PEQUOT LAKES – Katie Foley teamed up with Samantha Youngquist to shoot a 7 of 80 score in the 2021 USA Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Qualifying on Monday, October 4 at Golden Valley Country Club.
The team finished second to win the first alternative honors.
