Hobbs also said Trump’s appearance – like supporting his lies from local Republican officials, officials and Congressional hopefuls queuing to speak at Saturday’s event – was dangerous. .
“At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what he says or does,” she said. “Nothing will change the outcome of the 2020 election. But that doesn’t change how dangerous it is either.
Trump’s lie about voter fraud fueled the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington on January 6 of this year. He retains power within the Republican Party, which has swung behind him in seeking to obstruct investigations into the assault.
“At the end of the day, the Arizonans are tired of being led by conspiracy theorists,” Hobbs said. “They are not supporting this bogus audit, and they are ready for the leaders who are going to put these partisan games aside and deal with real issues.”
Hobbs hopes to become governor of Arizona. The midterm election will also see a key Arizona Senate seat up for grabs again.
