It turns out that the road to the Women's College World Series will go through Tucson for the Arizona Wildcats.

Arizona (42-12) will be the No. 6 seed of the NCAA softball tournament, announced Sunday night, and will welcome both a regional and a super-regional it's still alive after the first weekend.

The Wildcats will open the NCAA Friday at 8:30 pm. PT against Harvard (25-17), while Auburn (37-19) and Colorado State (38-10) will meet at 18h. Friday in the other opening match at Rita Hillenbrand stadium. The double elimination tournament runs until Sunday.

If this continues, Arizona would be able to stage a series of Super Regions with the best of three against the winner of the regional competition organized by the 11th Miss Ole Miss. The winner would go to Oklahoma City.

Arizona is doing its 33rd consecutive participation in an NCAA tournament, expanding its own national record and reaching at least the Super Regional Round since 2014, but the Wildcats' last trip to WCWS took place in 2010.

The Wildcats were one of five Pac 12 teams to field. Teams 2 and 3 in Washington also host regional sites.
