PHOENIX – His hairstyle and furry and horned tattoos made Jake Angeli easily recognizable in the crowd that invaded the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old, also known as Jake Chansley, has been among recent pro-Trump rallies in Arizona. He is a QAnon conspiracy theorist who is now a wanted man.

The DC Metropolitan Police have placed Angeli number one on their list of “persons of interest” for crimes related to the chaos of the US Capitol. He is charged with illegal entry and there is a reward of $ 1,000 for the information leading to his arrest.

When ABC15 investigator Melissa Blasius spoke to Angeli’s mother at her Phoenix home on Thursday, she said she didn’t know where her son was, but added, “He’s fine.

Martha Chansley was without excuse for her son’s actions.

“It takes a lot of courage to be a patriot, OK, and to stand up for what you believe,” Martha said. “Not everyone wants to be the person right off the bat.”

Several former classmates told ABC15 that Jake went to Moon Valley High School and sent photos from the yearbook. His mother says he is a navy veteran.

“He’s probably one of the nicest people I know,” Martha said. “He’s trying to get people to hear the message. Wake up. Wake up. Are we not yet living in the United States of America? “

Martha Chansley asked if the police really wanted her son, why didn’t they arrest him while he was on the Capitol.
