Police received reports that vehicles passing the Capitol had been hit by paint-filled balloons as well as green lasers pointed at drivers.

Videos shared by freelance journalist Andy Ngo show a vehicle saw its window shattered while another protester was nearly run over by a truck. Ngo said the protesters were Antifa, noting that they brought their flag along with weapons and riot gear.

Police issued an audible warning to protesters saying they were participating in an unauthorized event and blocking Court Street.

“Get off the road and obey all laws,” they said. “Failure to do so may result in an arrest. Stay on the sidewalks and exit the road.”

Protesters were driven off the streets by Oregon State Police and Salem Police Department crowd management teams.

Salem Statesman reporter Virginia Barreda said police declared the protest “illegal assembly” and formed a line outside the Capitol. She added that many protesters cleared the Capitol grounds towards Center Street, with SWAT following them.

An individual was arrested by police after drawing a gun.
