Ascension will require COVID-19 vaccine for all associates

Ascension announced that it will require all of its associates nationwide to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Ascension said this requirement applies to all employees and associates whether or not they provide direct patient care or work remotely. They also stated that this includes people employed by affiliates and partners, as well as volunteers and vendors who enter their facilities.

Ascension Health Systems operate in 19 states across the United States, including many locations across Oklahoma.

In a statement, Ascension said in part, “Ascension has conducted extensive moral and ethical analysis as part of the decision-making process. This decision is rooted in our mission commitment to lead with quality and safety. As a healthcare provider and as a Catholic ministry, ensuring that we have a culture of safety for our associates, patients and communities is essential to our work. ”

Officials said the goal is to have all associates vaccinated by November 12, 2021.
