Astral Channel: How long does it take to beat the latest Platinum game?

Astral Chain is the latest version of the developer Platinum Games and brings a brand new stylish action exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Now that some of us have played the whole game, we can share the time it takes to finish. Of course, your mileage may vary because the time required for your achievement depends on your style of play and the amount of optional content you engage with, but we can give you a general range here.

As a critic of Astral Chain for GameSpot, I spent a total of 35 hours with the game to roll credits. This included a full game on the Platinum Standard difficulty, a serious effort to find and complete all possible side quests, and a lot of time spent exploring the remaining hidden missions. Side quests also count in your overall mission score. I spent five extra hours trying to find the remaining content in the chapters of the story and try the hardest difficulty (Ultimate Platinum).

Astral Chain offers a list of achievements called "Orders" which is a challenge throughout the match. There are 185 of them, and although they are not essential, they grant you rewards such as improved materials, items, or new cosmetic options for your character. Clearing this list will add an inordinate amount of time to your playing time, as some challenges require finishing the story in the most difficult difficulty, S + ranks first, among others.

The game would be a lot shorter if you simply went through the main story series of questions without looking at anything else, which I would estimate about 15 hours… you would do the bare minimum, though.

As for the size of installation, Astral Chain requires 9.8 GB storage space on your switch or SD card if you plan to buy the digital version of the game.
