Frontier’s men’s soccer team stayed warm offensively on Saturday against Mt. Greylock, moving away for a 4-0 victory.

Matt Sicard found the back of the net after four minutes of play thanks to an assist from Tyler Dubreuil before Devin Niles scored in the 20th minute with the assist going to Chanhee Son.

Sicard made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute, with the assist going to Dubreuil. Dante Ruggiano scored the fourth goal on an assist from Aidan Valderrama.

Dylan Martin made five saves in the Redhawks’ victory.

Sabis 10, Athol 0 – Sabis scored five goals in each half to beat the Bears 10-0 on Saturday in a boys’ soccer game.

Holden Girouard made six saves in the loss.

Greenfield Hockey Golf Tournament

The Greenfield hockey team is hosting its annual golf tournament, which will take place on September 24 at the Greenfield Country Club.

Franklin County Peewee

Behind a dominant offensive line from Xavier Woodard, Julian Bowden-Smith, Connor Bengtson, Cooper Hobbs and Ryan Turners, the Franklin County Peewee Bulldogs beat Palmer, 26-7, on Sunday.

Jackson Baker and Silas Lively helped the Bulldogs rack up nearly 200 yards of offense. JJ Bones, Jackson Puchalski and Bryce Zraunig each had five tackles in the win.

Juniors border

Riggins Kopcza and Chase Greene each had a return touchdown on the ground and kickoff as Frontier’s junior division team beat Southbridge, 31-19, on Sunday.

Kopcza added a touchdown reception from Ty Skroski in the win. Carter Schloat landed an assist for Frontier.

Valley storm

In Sunday’s opener of a doubles program, the Valley Storm 16U fall softball team defeated the Junior Swamp Bats, 18-6, in four innings.

Skyler Steele led the way with three hits, one double and one RBI while Anna Bucala smashed two hits and four RBIs. Hannah Gilbert and Bri Lynch both had two hits and Delaney Fifield and Maggie Potter each had one hit and three RBIs in the win.

The return leg of the doubles program was not so good for Valley Storm, with the Junior Swamp Bats claiming a 5-4 victory.

Lilly Ross and Fifield both had two hits in the loss as Pierce, Lynch and Kylee Gamache hit it safe. Lynch had seven strikeouts in the circle.

Baseball

Western Mass. Fall League

Jason Quinn, TJ Thibeault and Hugh Cyhowski combined 15 strikeouts and allowed just one hit to lead Allstate Corp-sponsored Greenfield. and Land Solutions, to an 18-1 win over South Hadley in a Western Mass game. Fall Baseball League Saturday at Beacon Field.

Michael Pierce crushed two trebles and a double to score three RBIs in the win. Cyhowski added three hits and two RBIs, Quinn had a pair of hits and three RBIs and Braeden Tsipenyuk had a pair of hits and RBIs in the win.

Deven Dubie, Alex Gochinski and Jackson Campbell each scored a hit and an RBI, Ben Johnson and Thibeault both hit it safe, Ian Simpson and Johnny Marchefka got RBIs and Tyler Podolski scored a run for Greenfield .

Greenfield JV’s team lost both games over the weekend, losing Westfield, 10-6, and Belchertown, 10-3. Ethan Mauthe, Ben Dodge and Greyson Loos landed hits against Westfield and Mauthe struck safely against Belchertown.

Golf

Ashfield Community

The Ashfield Community Golf Club held its 12th edition of the senior two-man race on Saturday, Dave Cote and Wayne Clark finishing first with a 65.

Dan Cote and Dave Corliss settled for second with a 69 and Bev Williams and Bob Jillson took third with a 73.

Dan Cote and Norma LaBelle had the longest runs on # 4 while Bob Jillson won closest to the hairpin on # 5 and Jillson and Francie Hall won on # 9.

Dave Cote and Norma LaBelle won Marshmallow Drive and Bob Ledger and Norma Lynch took the most honest score.

Scottish Bucky O’Brien

In Sunday’s Bucky O’Brien Scotch tournament at Country Club in Greenfield, Ed Garbacik and Chris Ferriter finished with a low gross of 64.

David Kennedy and KC Finley placed second with a 67 while Joe Wilson and Michael Mertes were tied with Tim McKenna and Doug Riel for third with both pair shooting a 69.

Carter Fasick and Jon Fasick pulled the low net of 66. Brodie Conant and Jason Kelton were second (67) and the duets of Jason Yuryan and Tom Bresciano, Josh Harker and Brian Luippold and Mike Archer and Dylan Archer were third (69).

On Saturday, Steve Jones and Jason Kelton finished tied for first on Pebble Beach Flight with raw scores of 57 in the CCG Par 3 Championship.

Patrick Varner (58) won the Shinnecock Flight, Jamie Covey (57) won the Oakmont Flight and Denis Depault and Ike Purington tied for the first time in the Torrey Pines Flight with a score of 61.

Brady Booska (58) won the East Lake flight, Martin Carter (66) took the Pine Valley flight, Gary Noga (65) was first in the Harbor Town flight, Terry Boyce (57) took the lead in the flight Riviera, Ann McHugh (60) won first in Colonial Flight and Irene Woods (68) was winner in Muirfield Flight.

On Friday, the quartet of Aaron Campbell, Johnny Marchefka, Eric Adams and Clint McCloud shot the gross low of 55 in the men’s flight of the Elks outing at the CCG.

James Bozek, Alec Meikle, Derek Hoy and Jeff Taylor were second with a 59. Gary Noga, Randy Bernard, George Platek and Larry Synard were tied with Jim Elwell, Wayne Borkowski and KC Finley for the weak net of 54.

In mixed flight, Sharon Rawson, Roy Emerson, Michael Blanchard and Tony Wonseski got the gross low of 62 while Stephan Smith, Jane Smith, Sara Smith and Phyllis Videtich got the net low of 58.

The closest winners were Randy Shannon at No.2 (seven feet, three inches), Tim Herzig at No.11 (seven feet, eight inches) and George Platek at No.15 (four feet, five inches).

Greenfield Tennis Association

The Greenfield Tennis Association is organizing an end-of-season doubles tournament.

The tournament is open to everyone and those interested should contact League Commissioner Andrew Varnon by email at [email protected] or by phone at 413-774-563. Players register as an individual and there is a draw for partners on the first day of matches. Games start at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and continue through Thursday as needed.
