Atlanta Braves News: The Braves end a perfect and historic road trip

We all knew the Braves were playing good baseball.

We all knew this road trip was going to present an opportunity for the Braves to really take control of the NL East.

However, I’m not sure how many knew the Braves would achieve both goals while doing a bit of history along the way during this road trip:

As a result, the Braves won nine games in the division standings in August and now have a five-game lead in a new week and a return to Atlanta. The offense has become some of the best in baseball, the bullpen has done its job (for the most part) and the starting rotation is still doing fair or more than enough to keep the Braves in games. That balanced version of the Braves we all hoped for has finally arrived.

Yet despite the Braves winning at an historic rate, the biggest advantage of all is that they have done what is expected of them. While they had a fairly easy schedule in August, the fact that they won as many games as expected is what created a split in the NL East. Moreover, with series clashing with Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants, every part of their five-game cushion will likely be needed in time.

• In the final victory of the road trip, Touki Toussaint shone again for the Braves. Toussaint’s efficiency certainly allowed him to stick around even after Ian Anderson returned. While this role is not yet known, Toussaint certainly seems like a valuable arm who can help the Braves in the aftermath.
• In the win, Jorge Soler again contributed with another home run in a close game. Savannah McCann from MLB.com explains how Soler certainly made the most of his time with the Braves, and why both sides are certainly benefiting from his offensive success.
• As for the Braves’ outfield, another potentially important addition is knocking on the door to make his Atlanta debut. Eddie Rosario had the whole weekend for Gwinnett, and could be activated any day now.
• The level of competition for Atlanta is certainly about to change. The brave will host the Yankees at Truist Park today, as two teams from nine winning streaks collide. Last Talking Chop Podcast, Brad Rowland and Scott Coleman detail the Braves’ incredible play and what to expect this week.

• It’s hard to deny that baseball is at its best when an all-time great makes history.

Miguel Cabrera hit his 500th home run on Sunday, becoming the 28th player in MLB history to accomplish the feat. This could be the start of a string of all-time records set by Cabrera before next year, as he’s also only 45 hits from 3,000.

• Another big moment for baseball was the annual MLB game at Little League. World events. However, this year was a little more special, as two of the game’s biggest current stars, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, were able to interact with Little League players in the process. It was a wonderful time for all involved.
• The giants have become the first MLB team to achieve 80 wins this season Sunday as they outscored their Bay Area neighbors in Oakland. While the NL West race is now a two-team sprint, it will certainly be fun to watch in September.
• When it comes to division races, the Braves’ cushion in the NL East is certainly nice to see at the moment. However, the race for division is far from over. The Philly won a series victory in San Diego as Rhys Hoskins hit two home runs on Sunday. With Hoskins back from injury and an easy schedule on the horizon. the Phillies could continue to keep pace with Atlanta in the coming weeks.
