One of the victims of the Friday shooting in Illinois texted his wife while he was dying to tell him that he loved her, the woman said. that man.
Josh Pinkard was one of five people killed at the Henry Pratt warehouse in Aurora by a man who, according to police, allegedly opened fire after being fired. Pinkard, 37, of Oswego, Illinois, was the director of the factory.
"I got a text message from my precious husband at 1:24 that said I loved you, I was shot at work," said Terra Pinkard on Facebook on Sunday. "It took me several times to read it before I realized it was real."
She said that she had tried to reach him – to no avail.
"I've called her phone a few times, texting, FaceTime, nothing," she said. "I called her factory and a lady responded saying that she was barricaded in her room and that the police were everywhere. Of course, my heart has dropped. "

She said that hours later she had learned that her husband was one of those who had been killed.

Pinkard stated that her husband was the smartest person she'd ever met, her best friend and "the man I would have supported during such a disaster" .

Authorities said Gary Martin had pulled out a firearm and started firing after learning that he was fired after 15 years for various workplace violations. Martin, 45, was killed in a shootout with officers.

The other four victims were Clayton Parks, Russell Beyer, Vicente Juarez and Trevor Wehner, a 21-year-old human resources trainee on his first day of work.
Five police officers were injured after responding to the scene.

More than 1,500 people braved the snow and freezing drizzle to participate in a prayer vigil in honor of the five victims on Sunday in Aurora.
