A MANHUNT is in progress and a dangerous zone has been declared in Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula while the police are searching for an armed man with a firearm.
A heavy police presence fell on the city reports of the armed man
Police Commissioner SA Grant Stevens confirmed Monday afternoon that a dangerous police operation was in and that shots had been fired.
"It's very early in this case.We are looking for a man who escaped the police," he said.
"There have been shots that have been reported to me.If they (the public) know that this is the person we are looking for, we strongly advise them not to approach the person and call the police.
"No police were injured but we have not yet correctly badessed if this person (the shooter) was injured.
Police have declared a "danger zone" for the section of the city bounded by East Tce, Tce Cornish, Gouge St and Ryan St and urges residents to obey the officers' instructions and to avoid this area if possible.
