With regard to the Australian immigration program, it would be difficult for you to find a liar larger than Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
On Monday night, Turnbull again wove migrant programs on The Project (video above). Here are some key snippets:

First of all, net movements of short-term visitors to Australia are negative. It is therefore wrong to spread the demographic pressures in our cities on tourists. Net tourist flows in fact ease the overall demographic pressures of Australia:
Second, tourists and short-term students are not considered in the resident population of Australia, which is about to touch 25 million. As explained by ABS:
"A person is considered a habitual resident if he has been (or expects to live) in Australia for a period of 12 months or more. 12-month period does not need to be continuous and is measured over a period of 16 months. "
Third, it is the permanent migratory input of Australia which is the main driver of Australia's Manic Population Growth:
The 2016 Census found that Australia's population grew by 1.9 million people (+ 8.8%) over the next five years years, due to an increase of 1.3 million new migrants:
86% of these migrants (1.11 million) settled in Australian cities, compared with only 14% (187,000) who settled in the regional regions of Australia.
Of course, temporary migrants also exploded and s would be included in the census figures. But they have risen by a relatively modest 382,000 over the last five years:
Therefore, the main driver of the increase in the Australian population is made up of permanent migrants. Unlike temporary migrants who must eventually leave, these migrants remain in the country and also have children (then taken as "natural increase"). Thus, permanent migrants continually add to the Australian population, directly and indirectly.
If the permanent migratory contribution was hypothetically reduced to zero, then, over time, the NOM and by extension the Australian population would barely increase:
