The family of a woman whose body was found in a park on Sydney’s North Shore have remembered their daughter as having a radiance “that made you happy just being near her”.
Nicole Cartwright was discovered by a council worker in Buffalo Creek Reserve in Sydney’s Hunters Hill earlier this month.
A post-mortem examination carried out by police was inconclusive, with authorities forced to carry out further tests to determine how the 32-year-old had died.
At a service attended by friends and family yesterday, Cartwright’s family said they were “deeply touched” by the outpouring of symphony from the North Shore community.
“While we are still struggling to comprehend how and why this happened, our family is finding comfort in focusing on what made Nicole special and treasuring her in our memories,” the family said in a statement.
“It’s hard to express in words how grateful we are for the love and support we’ve received from her friends and members of the community over the past few weeks.”
Nicole’s family described her as “kind and sweet” but also “bold and fun”.
“Her smile was infectious, and her laughter was contagious,” the Cartwright family wrote.
“Nicole brightened our lives, not just with the colours in her hair or the things she wore; it was a radiance that made you happy just being near her.”
“While we are still struggling to comprehend how and why this happened, our family is finding comfort in focusing on what made Nicole special and treasuring her in our memories.”
Police are continuing to appeal to the public for information that may badist with the investigation into Nicole’s death.
Detectives have formed Strike Force Winkurra to establish what occurred in the days leading up to Nicole’s death before her body was discovered on October 3.
Police have are able to account for her whereabouts for most of the long weekend (Friday, September 28-30), but are seeking information for the days leading up to when her body was discovered.
