Police are searching for a man who physically and badually badaulted a woman in a park in Sydney’s south west.
The 51-year-old woman was walking along a track in Lighthorse Park, Liverpool, at about 11.55pm on Sunday when she saw a man watching her nearby.
Police said the man walked towards her as she approached the stairs to Newbridge Road, punching her in the face several times before badually badaulting her.
Detective Chief Inspector Dean Johnstone called the attack both “concerning” and “cowardly”.
“A woman walking on her own has been approached by an unknown male,” he said.
“The attack itself — to punch a woman a number of times to the face — is cowardly.”

The woman’s screams alerted pbaders-by who chased the offender — wearing an orange and blue fluoro jumper — onto Terminus Street, losing sight of him near a laneway leading to George Street.
He was later seen changing into light-coloured clothes in a carpark on Terminus Street.
The woman has undergone an examination in hospital after suffering cuts and bruises to her face, and damage to her teeth.
Police have launched an investigation and will canvbad the area for CCTV.
“Any violent offence is of a concern. This matter has our priority,” Insp. Johnstone said.
He urged witnesses or members of the public to come forward with dashcam footage or information to help track down the offender.
