A driver has been killed and a trapped person freed from wreckage after two trucks collided in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency services were called to Picton Road and MacArthur Drive in Wilton just before 4am following reports of a multi-vehicle incident.
Authorities currently remain on the scene.
It is understood the collision occurred between a car-carrier truck and a pantech truck, before a small fire was ignited and one of the vehicles’ drivers died at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was trapped in his truck for a short time before needing to be cut free.
An air ambulance helicopter was dispatched to the area to badist and has since flown the second driver to Liverpool Hospital with leg injuries.
Picton Road has been closed in both directions as a result of the crash and drivers are being urged to avoid the area or use Appin Road as an alternative.
The NSW Transport Management Centre has advised motorists to allow extra travel time and said there is no forecast for when the road could re-open.
Road crash investigators also remain on the scene as they work to determine the cause of the incident.
More to come.
