Lindy Yvonne Williams pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty of a second charge of interference with a corpse.
The charred remains of George Gerbic were discovered on the side of Cedar Pocket Road near Gympie in September 2013, but the cause of his death could not be determined.
Supreme Court jurors on Tuesday watched a police interview with Ms. Williams 10 months later, in which she stated that Mr. Gerbic had returned furiously. She said, "I'm fed up with women telling me what to do," Williams said in the recording
She told the police that he cut off her arm with a steak knife and she grabbed a bar stool in order to get her away from her. ;she.
"I tried to hit him with – he slipped on my blood and hit his head on top of the granite kitchen," she said.
Ms. Williams said that she left him lying in the kitchen and then left to stay in a motel for a few days and went back home to find his body dismembered in a bathroom .
"I did not know what to do – he was obviously dead, he was wrapped in plastic," she told the police.
Ms. Williams said that she was scared and that she did not know what to do, so she wrapped her body in a tarp and rope and dragged her to a rental car for dispose of the remains.
"I was going to call the police but I thought they'd think I did it," she said.
"I thought I had to get rid of it, I do not know why, but I had a lighter and I fired it, and then I left."
Ms. Williams told the police that the altercation was her third or fourth fight with Mr. Gerbic, who had already been violent toward her.
"It hurt me a lot … I caught it and bumped my head against the wall – I saw stars and fainted," she said. says

In the police interview, Ms. Williams said that Mr. Gerbic had beaten her in the months leading up to her death [19659023] "He said …" people are hitting people and they are arguing – she's coming home and stops being stupid, "she said in the interview

Ms. Williams once said that she had spoken to one of the ex-partners, who claimed that He "beat [her] to a pulp" when they were together.
