A shot was fired into the ceiling of Canberra Hospital after a patient stole a rifle at a police officer this afternoon.
Police said the 26-year-old man was under police custody urgently around 4 pm after being charged with a serious highway code offense early this morning .
The man allegedly badaulted police officers and, during the altercation, allegedly took and shot with an officer rifle. 19659005] He was later restrained with a Taser
Nobody else was injured in the incident and the police stated that there was no threat for public security.
Dane O'Donnell's wife was in the emergency.
He told me that he was wondering why the ED was closed.
"I was a little nervous because my phone was flat, so I could not even call my wife to find out what was going on," he said.
"I thought the worst."

Emergency departments were affected and some areas of the 39, hospital were closed.
