Carr says that protecting his environment is much more difficult than it was in his day:

The koala crisis is particularly urgent, says Carr, who suggests the need for an emergency summit:
"With regard to the Koala survival crisis, I believe that the best way to resolve is to reach an emergency summit. Summits are the best way to get a policy, make changes at the government level. "
In his chapter on dolphins, Bob Carr wonders if dolphins can understand human mourning and how bad it is. they recognize him in the corridors of NSW. Parliament, they had a champion who wrote their protection in the statutes.
