A large-scale search of bushlands on the northwestern coast of NSW found no evidence of missing boy William Tyrrell but the detectives gathered information relevant to their investigation.
A team of specialized officers led by the homicide team A new forensic investigation was conducted on June 13 in an area near his grandmother's house in Kendall, where he was was last seen in September 2014.
No trace of William was found during the operation that ended Thursday.
The search was to exclude William dying in a misadventure case
It is understood that the investigators have now returned to their theory that he was abducted.
Detective Chief Detective Gary Jubelin, who oversaw the 50-person research group, said that new leads had emerged from the investigation.
Deputy Coroner Harriet Grahame spent some time on the research site this week. However, the case was not referred to the coroner for an investigation.
A $ 1 million reward for information that leads to William's recovery remains on sale.
