A woman and her two young children were rescued after spending most of the night lost in the Jarrahwood State Forest near Upper Capel.
The woman was camping near the Dillys Dam on Saturday with her two children aged 3 and 5, when they walked on a trail.
A family member who was on the campsite was worried because they did not come back at 3 pm and went to get them.
After a first walk, the family member did a second search on a quad.
The alarm was sounded shortly after 6 pm and several policemen from Bunbury, Harvey and Donnybrook police stations were deployed to the search area.
The RAC Rescue Helicopter was deployed and State Emergency Services Volunteers were asked to be ready to conduct searches early this morning.
Fortunately, the police research team found the woman and children just before 1am, suffering from fatigue and dehydration.
Police said that they were lost on the runway and could not get back to the campsite.
St. John Ambulance attended and provided medical badistance.
A spokesman for the Washington State Police Force said that this incident had highlighted the importance of carrying additional water supplies and safety equipment even when you do not have to. plan that a short walk in the bush.
