Preston burglary: Elderly women robbed at gunpoint last year in Melbourne's north

The hunt continues for a cowardly thug who is bound and robbed an 87-year-old woman at gun point almost one year ago.

Investigators on Sunday appealing to the public for information about the "disturbing" crime in Preston on December 23 last year.

The violent thug put a knife to her throat and a gun to her head before dragging her to the bedroom.

The victim was then bound and left on the back side of the house ransacked the house.

The gross threat to kill the woman if she went to the police.

Senior Detective Constable Matt McKenzie called the crime the "lowest of the low".
"This is one of the most disturbing and disgraceful acts that I've investigated," he said.

The victim's daughter, Kerry, said her mother thought she was going to die during the attack.

"She thought she was going to be raped, she thought 'I'm not going to live another day',"

Kerry said.

"She did not want to tell anybody anything, not even to her family. She was afraid that he would come back. She was good to go back to her home.

"You want to kill this person for what they have done."

Police believe the offender fled on the beach after the badault with cash and jeweler in hand.

"Detectives have been told to be a black-and-white man," said spokeswoman said.

"He is believed to be aged in his early 30s and about 175cm tall with a thin build.
