Suspended from the mayor of Logan, Luke Smith faces a weekend behind bars after being arrested and charged with badault.

Smith was charged after the police attended a residence in Meadowbrook, south of Brisbane.

It is understood that the house belongs to a member of Smith's family.

The 48-year-old man was later charged with badault, obstructing police and intentional damage and taken to Beenleigh Watchhouse. remain in detention until Monday when he will appear in the court of first instance of Beenleigh

. In May, Smith was suspended from his role as mayor with Logan City Council after being accused of perjury and corruption by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Smith has already stated that he would vigorously defend the allegations.

The CCC stated that Friday's arrest had nothing to do with their investigation of allegations of corruption within Logan City Council.
